I have always been unindifying ALL my blue, purple and ofcourse gold drops, but I use an 'Identification Kit' nothing superior or so, because the normal one costs less per use. Ofcourse it makes no sense to unid whites, it gives just some more information, no more value.

This entire thread disproves that...the point of these tests were that they IDed EVERYTHING, white actually do increase in price when you ID them.

I don't understand why so much work was put into testing this.

Simply open trade with the merchant look at the price he offers for the white trash then ID the white white trash and check again.

I have been doing this a lot with my 55 since finding out about it around the time HM came out and know for certain all items (from HM farming at least) are worth more when you ID them.

Good idea to post though.

It's much easier to prove something when you provide proof, the more comprehensive and complete, the better. Alot of people may still be unaware of the benefit of ID'ing whites, as evidenced by a recent post here in this thread.

/begin rant

In my opinion, this thread proves the merchant network is a global(Tyrian) conspiracy of scammers, and it is now our duty to seek them all out and /report every one of them by name. Only then can the harassment and abuse of innocent players be stopped. ANet needs to ban these rampant scammers from continuing their wholesalse destruction of the player economy by removing the merchant conspirators from the game!

/end sarcasm

IDing only costs 4gold per id, assuming your using the 100 gold kit, so as long as your item goes up in value by four your good

Which is most of the time. Even if one item increases only by 1g the others will compensate it.

yeah, i never knew you could ID whites
until some time ago. and i find that the only
time ID'ing whites is later in he game; otherwise you
would be losing gold.

very informative, have you considered making another one of these to see if you could get more money by salvaging the items you id and selling the stacks from the outcomes then just merching them?
